Senior Rental Housing Options  September 10, 2019Waterford

Michelle Sabbia and Allan Trueblood of Waterford Estates provided a seminar on the various senior housing rental options offered. They discussed level of services which include independent living, assisted living, and memory care, monthly costs, discounts available to retired Chicago public school teachers with 20 or more years of service, food service options. This is a unique housing community in that it does not require a ‘buy in’ to enter. Leases are annual and renewable.

The Doctor Is In September 19, 2019Oak
                Street Health
Dr. Julie Blankemeir, an Oak Street Health physician, will engage RTAC member attendees with information regarding how to maintain a healthy lifestyle in retirement. Oak Street Health’s many local area facilities focus upon providing various health related services and activities in centralized locations across the Chicago metropolitan area. Oak Street Health also partners with the Silver Sneakers program.  Following a Q&A with Adam Peck, Oak Street Health’s V.P. of Outreach between Adam and Arlene Crandall, we were joined by Dr. Michelle Morrison, one of the physicians located at the Oak Street Health facility in Auburn/Gresham for a presentation via Skype on Senior Health Tips on Staying Healthy and Making the Most of One’s Medical Appointments. Using Skype was a first for RTAC’s seminar programs.  (See the photos below.)

Proceed With Caution September 24, 2019Blyth
On September 24, 2019 William Blyth, Carla Nitz, and Krista Zych of Blyth and Associates presented information about current economic trends and strategies that our members can employ to maintain their economic security. They also provided valuable insight and a peek at what the Senior 2019 U.S. 1040 tax return forms will include as well as how to effectively do their Required Minimum Distributions from IRA accounts. No Tricks, Treat You and Your Family to Long Term Care October 31, 2019Axlerod
Janice Axelrod will provide thoughtful insights and options into how RTAC members can plan for their long term care health needs. According to recent government surveys and reports 69% of Americans will need some sort of long term care coverage as longevity continues to expand. Careful planning will enable you to avoid the tricky path to planning for your future needs. (See the photos below.)
