John  P. Reilly

John Reilly became a RTAC Director in 2015. John’s professional career included service as an upper grade teacher and special education teacher as well as an administrator in the Chicago Public Schools and in the Rhodes School District. He concluded his CPS career as the Principal of Portage Park Elementary from which he recruits new RTAC members as they retire from CPS.  He has served as a member of Loyola University’s School of Education Advisory Board as well as a variety of civic organizations and his church. He is the Secretary of the CPAA Retiree Auxiliary 16.

John is an active and engaged member of RTAC’s 2017 Finance and Legislative Committees. He shares his perspective on issues of importance to CPS retirees with articles that appear in the two major Chicago newspapers.  John generously circulates legislative updates with a large group of retired educators. He maintains contact with former colleagues and urges them to communicate with their Illinois legislators to inform and educate them about retired CPS educators’ concerns.
